At the end of this teaching unit, the students will be able
- to design and implement interactive 3D applications in general, and, in particular, simple augmented reality games, according to the following technological directions: 3D modeling, 3D rendering, user interaction, mixing of natural and graphics content in real time.
- apprehend the augmented reality modeling languages and tools
- to summarize the contributions and use results from scientific papers on the theme of augmented reality,
- to carry discussions with specialists on the subject of augmented reality and to present the main concepts in front of a wide audience.
CDIO Skills
- 1.3 - Advanced engineering fundamental knowledge, methods and tools
- 2.1 - Analytical reasoning and problem solving
- 2.2 - Experimentation, investigation and knowledge discovery
- 3.1.2 - Team Operation
- 4.7.4 - Creating New Solution Concepts (which builds on and expands 4.3.2 AND 4.3.3)
Prerequisites
Mathematical skills in 3D geometry, C/C ++ programming skills
Keywords
3D Content, synthetic images, authoring tools, video games, OpenGL, authoring tool
Evaluation
Two-students group should provide a full implementation of an augmented reality game or interactive application. The application will be presented and defended at the final session in front of a jury. The final mark will take into consideration the application implementation and the answer to jury's questions.
